Denise Hufhines
Denise has been a teacher for many years using art as a means of helping her students to learn and express themselves. Art was also used in the classroom to bridge the language barrier for many of her students who did not speak English. Denise was always drawn to art throughout her life. As a child she often visited with a well known and established artist friend of her parents, Polly Tribolet, who encouraged her to pursue art.
As a student at USC she took several art classes for teaching and architecture. In later years, Denise took workshops with Tom Lynch, drawing with John Solem and then expanded from western form watercolor to include Chinese brush painting with Nan Rae.
It is only recently that Denise has had the good fortune to come "Off the Palette and Out of the Classroom!" With great pleasure Denise brings to you her collection of Giclee reproductions.
Just as Denise has always had a love of teaching, she has had a love of art.
Donald Hufhines
Following the completion of a successful teaching career as a professor in the field of Health Administration at the university level, Donald became intrigued by his wife's growing recognition as an artist. She invited him and encouraged him to accompany her to take classes with her teacher, the internationally acclaimed teacher of Chinese brush painting, Nan Rae. Donald was excited as his painting skills developed with his wife's support and encouragement. His childhood interest in animals, plants and landscape on a Texas ranch influences his selection of favorite subjects for Chinese paintings. His first public showing was received with much enthusiasm and success. Donald was pleased that he and his wife, Denise, could pursue their artistic adventure together.
